Police Chief Charles E. McNany was killed in the line of duty on July 13, 1957.

His name is listed on the "wall of fame" at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

 

In April of 1997, Sergeant Anthony J. Gorman, who had been shot while on patrol, was the recipient of the Police Purple Heart and was placed in the American Police Hall of Fame in Miami, FL.

 

At the same time, Patrolman Frank D. Heller was awarded the Silver Star by the American Police Hall of Fame for bravery above and beyond the call of duty.

 

In 1998, Senior Patrolman Mark L. Whitman was the recipient of the Governor's Highway Safety Award in the category of Enforcement.

 

In 2000, Patrolman Frank D. Heller was the recipient of the Governor's Highway Safety Award in the category of Enforcement.

October 6, 2004 Senior Patrolman Matt Carlson and Patrolman Brett Hill were the recipients of certificates for being recognized in their involvement in stopping drug activity in the area.
